About SD/PEN

San Diego Professional Editors Network (SD/PEN) is an association of people who earn a living as hands-on editors, writers, proofreaders, indexers, and other word experts for media including books, periodicals, newsletters, brochures, online documents, and other types of publications.

MISSION STATEMENT

SD/PEN has two goals:

To promote the interests of its members by

Encouraging the highest ethical standards
Supporting members’ needs and successes
Providing continuing educational opportunities
Educating clients about the value of editors

To focus on the interests of its members’ clients by

Providing access to professional editors
Serving as a resource for client questions about editing

Member Involvement in SD/PEN

SD/PEN was founded in 1986 and is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Members also have the opportunity to serve in other volunteer roles. When independent contractors are needed, SD/PEN utilizes the talent pool within the organization.
